Clear aligners
Clear aligners are a series of clear trays, each moving your teeth a little, made from a digital scan and checked by an orthodontist as you go.
What happens
Treatment usually runs about a year to two, and your doctor gives you a range after the scan.
- 01
Step 1: Consult and scan
An exam and a digital scan of your teeth, with no impression trays.
- 02
Step 2: The plan
The doctor maps the stages and shows you where your teeth are meant to end up.
- 03
Step 3: Your first trays
You collect your first set and learn to put them in and take them out.
- 04
Step 4: Check-ins
A doctor checks fit and progress, and sometimes adds a small attachment.
- 05
Step 5: Finishing
Your last tray leads straight into a retainer.
Comfort, choices and care
Comfort
A new tray feels tight for a day or two. You take the trays out to eat and to brush, and wear them most of the day. Ask for a break at any visit.
If you wait, or choose another way
Aligners suit some bites and not others, and the doctor tells you which. If trays aren't worn as planned, treatment takes longer. Braces or another route may fit better.
Risks and after-care
Teeth can feel sore after a new tray, and attachments can come loose. Lost trays are replaced, and the estimate says how. Without a retainer, teeth drift.
How it is billed
Treatment is billed as one plan, with a written estimate before it starts. Plans that cover orthodontics are billed as How fees work describes, and we never quote a price by message.

Questions about clear aligners
Can anyone use aligners?
Not everyone. Some bites need braces, and the doctor says so after the exam and scan.
How many hours a day do I wear them?
Most of the day. Your doctor sets the schedule, and it is on your plan.
What if I lose a tray?
Call the office. We'll say whether to go back to the last tray or order a new one, and what it costs is in your estimate.
