Questions we hear most

Do you take my insurance?

Orthodontic coverage is separate from the dental benefits that pay for cleanings, and many plans pay only part of treatment up to a set maximum. How fees work lists the kinds of plan we bill and the ones we don't, and we check your benefits before your first visit.

What if I don't have insurance?

You pay for treatment yourself. We give you a written estimate for all of treatment before it starts, and we go through what it covers. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?

We are not enrolled with Medicaid or CHIP. If your child's plan covers braces, ask the plan whether it pays an office outside its network. How fees work says the same, in one place.

Will braces or aligners hurt?

Teeth often feel tender for a few days after braces go on, after a wire change and when a new tray goes in. We tell you what to expect at each step, and you can ask for a break at any visit. Ask your doctor what's right for you when the soreness is bothering you.

How often will I need X-rays?

Your orthodontist decides which records you need and when. We use X-rays only when the doctor needs one to plan or to check your progress, and we ask your dentist for recent ones first.

Do I still see my own dentist?

Yes. Keep your cleanings and exams with your family dentist while you're in treatment; we only straighten teeth and fix the bite. With your permission we send your dentist an update at each stage.

Do you treat children?

We treat teens and adults. If your dentist notices something in a younger child, they can refer the family, and a doctor will say whether to check now or wait.

What if a wire pokes or an aligner tray cracks?

Call the office you booked with and we'll tell you what to do until you're seen. For swelling in the face, trouble breathing or swallowing, or a serious injury to the mouth, call 911 or go to an emergency room.

Can I get a written estimate before treatment?

Yes. Ask when you book or at the first visit. The estimate lists each stage we expect and what is and isn't included, such as retainers.

Do you speak Spanish?

Mirna Esquibel, our referral coordinator, speaks Spanish and English. Ask for her when you call the Medford office, and we'll set up a time with her.

Which office and which doctor will I see?

You pick the office closest to home. Each doctor works in more than one office, so who you see depends on the day. All three can see your chart, so a visit in a different office doesn't start over.

How do I change or cancel a visit?

Call the office you booked with, or use the booking link in your confirmation. Tell us as early as you can so we can offer the time to someone else.

Still wondering?

Call the office you plan to visit, or send a message.
